The sun is
bright here but there is a thick coating of
ice all over everything. It reminds me of
Alaska, when the ice fog would come through
on a winter's night. I would wake up and the
sky would be such a clear vivid blue that it
was almost more than the eyes could absorb.

My breath
would come out in little cloud puffs and
when I looked at the big tree outside our
door it would look as if it were encased in
glass!

When touched,
the ice was smooth and slick. The sun would
sparkle off the ice like a million diamonds.

Everything
was covered in this way, the grass would
crunch when walked on and the bushes looked
like they were dusted with powdered sugar.

But, it was
the tree that always held my attention. So
stark and bare, so empty and alone one
night, just like me, and then the next
morning it would be transformed into such
beauty! So fragile, so intense, yet so solid
like nothing could harm it. And, when the
sun came to melt its beauty, it fought back
by giving diamonds!

Like the sun
brought out the diamonds in the old tree you
bring out the sparkle of hope in me. You
melt the ice of fear and break the frost of
despair, so that they crunch beneath my
feet. And when You tell me you love me, I
feel diamonds sparkling in my soul!

Thank You,
Lord Jesus! For giving me diamonds!
