Home for Christmas

Jesus left His home, in Heaven,
to be born on Christmas day.
He traveled, through all time and space,
to provide for us a way.
He was born unto a sweet young girl in a stable,
 cold and dark.
His father was a simple man,
 just a carpenter at heart.

They must have been so frightened,
by the wonder of it all.
Yet, they had the inner peace of God,
as Christ was born in a stable stall.
On the lonely road to Bethlehem,
they pondered things they couldn’t explain.
They knew not what their future would hold.
But, their Faith in God remained.

They had the promise of God, Himself,
that things would work out right.
So, they continued on their journey
in the stillness of the night.
With Mary riding on a donkey;
 few possession to their name,
They found no room at any Inn, So,
to the stable they lay claim.

The night was dark as Mary lay on
the cobblestones, oh, so cold.
As Joseph knelt down by her side,
with gentle words he did console.
They marveled at the miracle,
and the world was reconciled;
When a simple man and a teenage girl
gave birth to God's own child.

As Mary held her son, that night,
she was happy beyond belief.
Yet, she knew, somehow,
in the fullness of time,
Her heart would be filled with grief.
She cradled her tiny baby,
knowing He was the Son of God,
And, as she placed Him in the manger,
 all the angels did applaud.

He left His home in Heaven,
took the form of a baby boy.
He laughed and played, as any child,
and filled His Mother’s heart with joy.
As He grew in strength and wisdom,
He knew his life would be reviled.
For this young boy, the Son of Man,
was truly God inside a child.

He lived His life for you and me.
Then, He suffered, bled, and died
And the angels all were silent as God turned
 His back and cried.
He could have chosen not to come
but the price of sin is steep.
So, willingly,
He paid the debt and placed our
 sins at the Father’s feet.

As Christmas comes around this year,
let your heart be stayed on Jesus.
Accept Him now, without delay,
and soon we'll all be ...

"For God so loved the world that
He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him should
not perish but have eternal Life."
John 3: 16

"In my Father's house are many mansions;
if it were not so, I would have told you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you,
I will come again and receive you to
Myself; that where I am, there you may be also."
John 14: 2
