This story has touched our hearts deeply, written by my friend's eleven year old son. We know the Lord calls loved ones home early sometimes and it is hard to understand why. It seems children understand more than we do at times. God Bless You Brad

A NEW ANGEL IN HEAVEN

One year ago my friend William had to leave his home here
on earth, he left behind a younger brother and his mother.
When he left school that day he did not know how many
he would hurt, come tomorrow.  If I had known that was the
last time I'd see my long time friend I could've told him
how much he meant to me.  We didn't know that day as we were
on the school ground and laughed at the girls who hung
around.  We would not see each other again.  We would have
let him know how much we loved him.  He is truly missed,
our dear friend.  We laughed, played, and learned things
together from pre-k through thru the fifth grade.  He lost his Dad,
Granddad, and Uncle only a year ago and he was left with
the job of being the man of the house.  He was only 9 yrs.
old then, a lot happened to him before he turned 10.
At the end of the school day William told me maybe we later
could play.  But when he didn't call, I didn't pay any
attention to it at all.  I knew he had homework and chores
to do.  But I didn't know that once he got home he told his
mom his head hurt and she told him to lay down for awhile,
maybe he had just over done.  She didn't know that it would
be the last thing she would say to her oldest son.
A while later she went to wake him for dinner, like so
many times before she would tickle his feet.  But he didn't
move or make a peep.  She checked him and found he
had died in his sleep.  She screamed and cried like
all his school friends did when we found out the next
day, that my best friend William had died.  I had to
ask the Great Lord, " Why oh why " and I had listened
but got no reply.  When I got home my mom told me
she had heard the news that William had a brain tumor but
nobody knew.  She told me to think what was best for him
to live, I said no if it meant he would be in pain.  So I
listened to what she had to say, I knew then I did get my
answer, but just a different way.  He is in Heaven now with
his Dad, Granddad, and Uncle doing the things that God wants
him to do.  At the funeral all his friends gathered around
him and saw his face we knew if we do as God wants we will
all get to heaven too.  So William this poem is for you.
Just know how much you are still missed but now when I see
a glow in a distance I know it is my friend in Heaven the new
angel looking down on me.

A NEW ANGEL IN HEAVEN

One year ago William had to die,

Now I will never see his face,
I asked the Great Lord, "Why, Oh Why?"
I listened but there was no reply.
Now with his dad,

But I know he is in a better place.
And for that reason it makes me glad.
