That
Girl
Have you ever met a girl,
Who warmed you through.
A girl that's like no other,
The girl God made for you.
Have you ever met that pretty girl,
A girl you love so much.
That on the very day you met,
You felt your spirits touch.
Have you ever met that lovely girl,
A beauty quite so rare.
That if you found her sound asleep,
You'd steal a lock of hair.
The kind of girl that makes you think,
Of strolling through the park.
Or walking on a sandy beach,
In the moonlight, after dark.
Have you ever met that special girl,
Who gave you such a start.
She only had to look at you,
And it would melt your heart.
Have you ever met that pretty girl,
The one you'd like to dine.
In a quiet place, by candlelight,
And tell her she's so fine.
Have you ever met that lovely girl,
A beauty to behold.
As pretty as a flower,
When all it's blooms unfold.
The kind of girl you'd like to take,
Up on the mountain high.
Hold her hand and walk a while,
Or watch a butterfly.
I'm glad today I've met that girl,
She's lovely as can be.
Thank you Lord for my Diane,
The girl you made for me.

My
Diane
I thank the Lord,
For His great plan.
I thank Him too,
For my Diane.
Some years ago,
The way things were.
I needed help,
So He sent her.
Into my life,
She came one day.
Not to visit,
But to stay.
Ten short years,
We've been together.
With sunny days,
And some bad weather.
I must say,
Our love has grown.
It's stronger now,
Than I've ever known.
I have been blessed,
With wonderful joys.
A sweet little girl,
And two fine boys.
I don't believe,
That this would be.
If God hadn't sent,
Diane to me.
The Lord used her,
And all my kids.
To change my life,
And stop my skids.
She gave me love,
I didn't deserve.
And showed me God,
Whom I now serve.
There is a thought,
I could not stand.
That's living life,
Without Diane.
I serve the Lord,
And by His grace.
I do behold,
Her pretty face.
In both our hearts,
Lord Jesus lives.
We have the peace,
That His love gives.
If I go first,
To heaven's gate.
Then patiently,
For her I'll wait.
Inside the gate,
I will stand.
Until she comes,
And takes my hand.
Then I shall walk,
Hand in hand.
On streets of gold,
With my Diane.
This poem was written to Diane for our
anniversary in 1990. It's even more true today
than it was then. Thank You Lord for my Diane

Maria
There is a star,
That brightens our life.
And brings great joy,
To me and my wife.
This star is not large,
But it's oh so bright.
It shines in our lives,
Each day and each night.
God gave us this star,
Eight years ago.
We named her Maria,
And we love her so.
The Lord blessed Maria,
He gave her a smile.
So happy and bright,
It glows for a mile.
She's full of energy,
And bursting with love.
With a special kindness,
That comes from above.
When the Lord gave her,
To me and my wife.
He must have known,
That she'd change our life.
He created Maria,
And caused us to see.
What terrible people,
We happened to be.
Our daughter's so pretty,
And witty and smart.
With big brown eyes,
That captures your heart.
Now she's in school,
Her grades are quite good.
She does all the things,
That little girls should.
She's not at all stingy,
Which really is dandy.
Why, she'll even give you,
Her last piece of candy.
We both do believe,
The good Lord above.
Gave us Maria,
To show us true love.
We have to confess,
The good Lord was right.
When He gave us Maria,
We began to see light.
It still took a while,
But we came around.
In addition to her,
It's Jesus we found.
God must have been pleased,
And surely He smiled.
When He created Maria,
And made her our child.
Maria graduates from high school at the end of this
school year (2000) and this poem is still true to this day.
