An elderly man stood about,
Begging on the streets.
He was so very thin,
From lack of food to eat.
Many of the towns people,
Quickly passed him by.
Feeling lonely and unloved,
He hung his head and cried.
Father up in heaven,
The elderly man said.
If there is no one here who'll love me,
Then I'd rather I be dead.
Food and clothes are nothing,
I can manage enough to stay alive.
But without love and kindness,
I do not think I shall survive.
Just to feel the warmth,
Of a gentle touch.
Lord I don't think that would be asking,
So very very much.
Please send someone,
Who will love and care for me.
I feel like I am adrift,
Upon a lonely sea.
