In a cabin down
from the mountains,
My wife gave birth to our son.
How very happy we were,
To welcome this precious little one.
I changed his diapers,
And held him when he cried.
Oh the love I felt for this little one,
He was my joy my pride.
The love we had for one another,
Grew stronger each and every day.
I'd tuck him into bed each night,
And listen as he prayed.
Thank you Lord for my Mom,
And I thank you for my Dad.
Then I'd get all choked up,
Hearing this prayer from our little lad.
As the years went by,
And he grew into a man.
I recall that's when it started,
Yes, that's when it all began.
He fell by the wayside,
And drifted from our teachings in his life.
Oh the sadness that he has caused us,
The heartaches and the strife.
I pray that one day soon,
We will be close again.
You see I love this little boy,
Who is now a man.
Lord I ask that you watch over him,
And keep him in your care.
Bring us back together Lord,
I have so much love to share.
